How To Get a Medical Cannabis Card in DC
Washington, DC has a robust Medical Cannabis Program, which allows patients who qualify to get a recommendation from a participating physician to receive a DC Medical Cannabis Card.
Dr. Dana McGinty is a participating physician that recommends qualified patients to the program for purchase of cannabis products from approved dispensaries.
Note: All DC and non-resident patients and caregivers must have a valid registration to purchase medical cannabis from a DC dispensary.

Can I use my medical insurance for my visit?
Insurance is not accepted as payment for recommendation visits.
Do I qualify for the DC Medical Cannabis Program?

Many patients with HIV, glaucoma, and cancer are benefiting greatly as well. The examining doctor may recommend any patient he feels might benefit. You must be a DC resident to participate.
How do I get a Medical Cannabis Card?
Below are the major steps for obtaining a medical card.
Step 1 Recommendation Visit – Schedule an appointment with our approved physician for an evaluation to recommend you for the program. The recommendation is required to make an application.
Step 2 Recommendation – Receive your recommendation provided by an eligible healthcare practitioner.
Step 3 Application – Can be completed online in person at a dispensary. (For the application, you will need your healthcare practitioner recommendation.)
